Today is my birthday

It is now 4:37 PM. I was born 58 years ago at around 8 PM so officially I am not yet 58 years old.
Getting older is what each of us do. We live. We die. Ouch that sounds so dull and boring. And it would be if our living and dying were reduced to those two words. We should be living in such a way that it brings honor to ourselves, our family and friends and above all else to God. Living is somewhat in our control and mostly is a series of twists and turns, bumps and bruises, highs and lows. But we can travel this road with dignity and the knowledge that dying, though mostly out of our control, is simply a continuation of the journey that was started here, only minus all the rough spots. Can I also add pain? There is that with getting old. Talk about "ouch".

So now as I approach 58, then 59, then 60 ... I am going to learn once more to embrace life passionately and again live according to my two favorite Bible passages. Galations 2:20 "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. (NASB ©1995)
Philippians 1:21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. NIV
